We last stew Payton II last year, as he played on a two-way deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. In his 23 total game between the Lakers and the Milwaukee Bucks, Payton II posted averages of 3.0 points and 0.9 assists per game.
The son of NBA Hall of Fame player Gary Payton, Payton II has quite the uphill task of making the Blazers’ final roster. With guards Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, Wade Baldwin IV, Nik Stauskas, Anfernee Simons and Gary Trent Jr, minutes would be tough to come by. The team is also already at the maximum 15 guaranteed contracts. Payton II’s best bet for making the team would involve him splitting time with the Blazers’ developmental league affiliate.
